Dose the new Apple iPad have drawing capabilities? Would you be able to use a stylus?
Also be imported from programs such as Photoshop and Sketchbook Pro? I really want to get IPAD but also want to be able to use it as a tablet. Tablet PC is difficult to find Nice for a decent price relativity. And what I mean is not more than $ 1,000.
Drawing capabilities? Yes. Use Photoshop? Only if a version is created for iPad or iPhone.
The iPad does not run on OSX or Windows. It’s basically an iPhone. If you can’t do it on an iPhone or iPod Touch, you probably can’t do it on the iPad. At a dinky 1GHz processor speed, I would doubt Photoshop could run on the iPad in any form. There is also no stylus.
Summary of the iPad:
-You cannot multitask. You can only do one task at a time. If you want to surf the web and type into a document, you can’t. You need to exit one and then open the other.
-No flash support. Enjoy the web without much of its content!
-Doesn’t use a real operating system, like Windows or Mac OSX. It runs like an iPhone, not a laptop.
-It doesn’t have an SD card slot or USB slot. You want to load all your photos and music on it? You need to buy a special dongle and attach it to the iPad. Ah yes, that’s convenient and cost-effective.
-Apple wants to say it will be great for reading books and magazines, but it has a bright, glossy LCD screen. Meanwhile, electronic book reader devices use an electronic ink technology that doesn’t strain the eyes and can be used in the sun. Electronic book readers can run on battery for days, whereas the iPad claims up to 10 hours, but probably has much less.
-You need to lay it flat and look straight down at it to type on it. It’s not like a netbook or laptop where the keyboard is flat and the screen is in front of your face.
-You can buy a keyboard accessory — you can spend extra money to turn a low-power netbook-type tablet into a non-portable desktop computer. Meanwhile there are products like Lenovo U1 Hybrid where you can slip the tablet into a netbook shell and turn it into a portable, foldable laptop.
-It costs $500, minimum, and has a 1 ghz processor. You’re paying $500 for something that has about the same capabilities as an iPod Touch, but is huge. Products with similar specs and abilities as the iPad cost less than that. If you want the model with enough disk space and 3G to make it worth your while, it’s $800.
My netbook has a 1.6 ghz Atom processor and cost me $200. And my netbook has an SD slot so I can make the hard drive space as large as I want. And my netbook has USB ports. And I can do multiple tasks on my netbook. Fact is, tablets have been around forever and the mainstream market didn’t want them. Just because they’ve slapped an Apple logo on it, should people suddenly want it?
I wondered that too and didn’t see anything about it on the link I got in email. I doubt it. It’s not the same screen as a Wacom (I don’t think). Also, there is no ability to load Photoshop or Illustrator until they make an app for it. I’m sure Adobe is going to do it if no one else does. They’d be dumb not to. It’d be really good for PS and Sketchbook.
I tried the stylus accessory Apple sells in its store for the iPhone. It was slower to respond than my finger, and no more accurate, which made it less useful than a finger.
I believe the iPad has the same touchsensitive technology as the iPhone, which is optimized to improve finger point response, and are not adequate for drawing. I was hoping that Apple had perfected this for the iPad. IMHO If you can’t draw on it, it’s not a pad.
Having a full-sized onscreen keyboard is a step in the right direction, however.
well yeah the ipad does have drawing capabilities if you’ve ever seen and iphone or an ipod touch this ipad is exactly the same thing and i quote “it’s just an iphone on steroids” and its stru only that the MAIN apps like calendar,iTunes store, App Store, Photo apps and others are redesigned for the ipad so theylle be little bit different i do doubt though that they’ll have a sylous for it
also if you do thy out the iphone or ipod touch there is drawing applications on it =]
though i do know a pretty neat trick just for fun get a AA battery and use the positive side to touch the screen on the iphone ,ipod, ipad and it work like astylu spretty cool try it out that would be the only way because these apple products( refering to iphone , ipod touch , and ipad) are touch sensitive to the heat of your fingers so the aa battery does something similar thats the only way yto have a stylus something with electricity or heat
It is basically a giant ipod touch, unless their is a photoshop app, then you won’t be able to download it. Its an ipod touch only 10 times bigger and heavier, its not worth $500, you better off buying a cheap laptop, desktop, or netbook.
There will be many drawing programs on the iPhone.
Not necessarily Photoshop though.

So many incorrect answers, and pointless rants here so I will answer this one.
There already is Adobe Photoshop on the iPhone and many drawing programs for specialized tasks. The Photoshop app is pretty much just a basic photo editor, and not nearly as capable a drwing app as on the desktop. The drawing apps will work on the iPad.
There are stylus’ that work with the iPhone/iPod Touch, and those would work for the iPad. They are not the best for drawing, as the tips aren’t narrow like a pencil.
It’s best to stick with your typical drawing tablet if you want to do pencil type drawing.
You can find an App for drawing, I’m looking around as well.

You cannot import programs from your MacBook – you can’t use the laptop versions of Photoshop or Sketchbook.
Painting programs made for the iPod/iPhone are being adapted for the iPad. Brushes is one example.
However, the typical stylus, like the Pogo Stylus and Pogo Sketch, has a soft rounded tip, so I guess it would be very uncomfortable for fine detail pencil work.
Judging from the processor I don’t think you’ll be able to run PS on it, and you can’t connect it to a computer to use it as a tablet. There will obviously be apps that will do for sketching and painting simple paintings. It’s like drawing on a big iPhone. Since iPad is pressure sensitive that’s an advantage. There’s no styluses on the market for it yet though. So, you’ll be able to draw simple drawings – using your fingers.
