Is Cloud Computing The Next Phase Of Computing Evolution?

It was not so long ago, when traditional computing requires users of the software on their personal computers to install, run an application. The user stores its files on the same computer or store them in a separate memory such as a floppy disk.

The next stage was the client-server network, in which a group of men to their local server and files connected with each other. Users can reconnect peripherals connected directly to your computer, if the peripheral device as the printer to the network is connected.

Then came the internet and it had never been a more welcome invention since the TV. The Internet in a revolution in communication, trade, led, and society generally. He brought new ideas such as e-mail, video conferencing, social networking and e-commerce.

In recent years, the hottest buzzword in the IT (Information Technology) industry was “Cloud Computing”.

    What exactly is Cloud Computing?

It is a new revolution in computer science, where software virtualizes and is stored in a “cloud” ie Google Apps and Amazon EC2. Everything can be accessed via the Internet, including the database. All users need is a high-speed Internet connection and a computer device such as a laptop or a smartphone. No download, no installation required and no update, in other words, no stress, not a must.

    What the benefits?

Portability – Because the application and the database can be accessed via the Internet, the user is his or her computing power anywhere as long as it is to do Internet connection.

affordability – Some applications like Google Docs are free. You only need to sign up for a Google account, which is also free. This is a great alternative to Microsoft Office that could cost you $ 199 per download or $ 279 for the boxed version. There are sites such as Amazon EC2, a minimal amount for subscription to raise their performance.

Collaboration – colleagues from different parts of the world can work on a project through the sharing of spreadsheets, documents and files. determined depending on their accreditation and registration information, employees can update files in real time, so is the interaction moment. In marketing, they use channel partners portals in order to bridge the gap between companies and their resellers.

maintenance – Computing Users of this option can not sleep at night knowing that your database is safe and secure. Even if your computer is burnt down, your files are safe because they are stored in another server.

Are there risks in this kind of computing?

The main concern for this type of calculation is the security of the data you save to the cloud. They are after all dealing with the Internet, where evil hackers and Internet users are with dubious motives abound. Consistency of service is also an issue, especially for users with unreliable Internet connections. Google Docs is known to freeze from time to time.

Who uses this kind of computing?

Everybody. compete with Google Docs alone, a free software with the likes of Microsoft MSOffice very expensive, you can see the immediate benefits of Web-based computing.

Small businesses with simple computing needs very little or no pay to store their data on clouds.

channel partner portals are the advantages of Web-based computing concept as the people on its importance to their sales and marketing strategies begin to grasp.

Cloud computing is just one of many innovations through the Internet. But it is certainly one of the most useful and important tool is meant for everyone. Or at least, everyone with a computer and Internet access.
